2007 Cruise West - Alaska’s wild Stikine River American West Steamboat Co.’s 2007 Alaska program for Empress of the North includes a voyage to the mouth of the Stikine River, one of North America’s last wild rivers.
Departing from Juneau, Empress of the North’s seven-night itinerary includes a transit of Peril Strait and scenic cruising through the 22-mile long Wrangell Narrows and Lynn Canal. The 223-passenger vessel will enter the mouth of the Stikine, a glacier-fed river that was once a major navigation route to the Klondike traveled by multitudes of sternwheelers.
The journey includes dinner at the face of Le Conte Glacier and a transit through the 26-mile-long Tracy Arm past the twin Sawyer Glaciers. Ports are Sitka, Skagway, Wrangell and Petersburg.
