| Companies Catering to Seniors Seniors, those of us over 50 years of age, or 55, or 60, or 65 -- make your own definition -- do more traveling than our younger friends, neighbors, and family members. At least that's true in the USA. It's no wonder then that several companies taylor their offerings to what they call "mature travelers." I have personal experience with two of them, but primarily with Grand Circle Travel. If you are 50 or "better", you might want to check them out. I have very fond memories of the 1999 trip and will have, after June 2008, a basis for direct comparison of the two companies. The comparison will be moot, however, since Saga no longer offers their services in the USA. |

| Elderhostel is another organization offering travel opportunities for seniors. I have not personally taken advantage of an Elderhostel offering, but I have friends who were quite pleased with an Elderhostel tour they took. Elderhostel: Welcome! |

| Was Elderhostel named with tongue-in-cheek?
I can't find an answer on line or in the mailings. Since the "hostel" concept is a far cry from what is typically offered by Elderhostel, it makes me wonder about the derivation of the name. I suppose that the more educational nature of the Elderhostel offerings had something to do with it, but they are not cheap and they are not Spartan.
Please correct my misunderstanding. |

| I've traveled with Go Ahead Tours, Trafalgar, Go Today, Globus, Caravan and maybe a couple others. Although they aren't senior tour companies the majority of the travelers are over 50. I do like traveling with people of all different ages so a senior only group might not be as much fun. |
