Delays after Gatwick power fault Thousands of passengers have been delayed at Gatwick Airport because an electrical failure meant they could not check luggage in.
Police stopped travellers going into the South Terminal on Sunday morning after one of the main baggage belts broke down because of the dip in power.
BAA said the problem had been fixed and staff were now clearing the backlog.
Some flights are experiencing delays of up to 50 minutes and people are being urged to check before travelling.
Up to 32,000 passengers were expected to arrive and depart from Gatwick Airport's North and South Terminals on Sunday.
A spokeswoman for BAA said: "There will be delays for people as we try to check the people in who have been waiting."
One traveller said: "They're trying to get people from earlier flights to the front of the queue but people are just trying to get to the front." The South Terminal acts as a base for airlines including Easyjet, Continental and Virgin.
