Default BWI discounts parking

22nd March 2006

Quote:
Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport is introducing reduced parking rates and a new payment option at its parking facilities.

Fast-growing BWI will offer parking discount coupons, available on its Web site at www.BWIairport.com, for reduced parking rates in the hourly and daily garages as well as the express service parking lot, officials said Tuesday.

BWI, which touts itself as a very customer friendly airport, also introduced Tuesday direct credit card payments at the hourly garage. Customers can now insert their credit cards into the ticket dispenser at the parking gate, rather than taking a ticket. Then by paying with the same credit card, users eliminate the need for a ticket.

"Since parking is often the first step in the overall airport experience, we want our customers to 'Park Happy at BWI,'" BWI Executive Director Timothy L. Campbell said in a news release.

As part of the "Park Happy @ BWI" promotion, the coupons offer a $5 discount at the hourly garage, which usually costs $20 per day. Other discounts include:

* The express service parking lot will be discounted $4 with the coupon. The usual rate is $14 per day.
* BWI's daily garage usually costs $10 per day. The coupon will discount that rate to $8.

Coupons expire June 21. (Bizjournals)
