4 Hurt at Demolition Derby in Missouri A demolition derby car went into the audience and hit four spectators over the weekend, causing some injuries.
The derby vehicle hit Rose Mary Skaggs and three others. Skaggs, 62, suffered a broken leg and cuts to her hips and thighs.
"A car shoved this car up on the banks, then he backed up and took another run at it and shoved it into the audience," said her son, David Skaggs.
Three others hurt in the Saturday night accident were released from hospitals.
The demolition derby, now in its 15th year, raises $5,000 to $7,000 each year for rescue equipment for the fire protection district.
"It's an unforeseen accident. We're very sorry it happened," said Randy Eaton, a board member of the Potosi Fire Protection District.
Organizers plan to review what happened and decide what changes need to be made.
