Default Falls Creek Ski Lifts will use eco-friendly, renewable energy

John Schryver, CEO of Australian Alpine Enterprises has announced exciting new environment-friendly initiatives at Falls Creek Alpine Resort.

Falls Creek Ski Lifts will use eco-friendly, renewable energy to power the resort's main access chairlift, the Falls Express. Falls Creek has partnered with TRUenergy to supply the environmentally friendly power source.

"As a responsible operator in Australia's alpine industry it is important to recognize the availability of an energy source that is sustainable, and is therefore beneficial to the long term future of our mountain resorts" said Schryver.

"The quest to slow down the implications of climate change is a challenge society must accept, and in purchasing renewable energy that does not add to greenhouse gas emissions we are leading by example. "

AAE takes seriously the social responsibility of operating alongside a huge natural resource, - The Alpine National Park, - the largest national park in Victoria.

Whilst it is a small step in the best interests of our environment and our guests, it is an opportunity for our company to act responsibly in relation to the well documented issues about the impact of climate change.

Last year, Falls Creek Resort Management was successful in getting Falls Creek Green Globe certification. This meant that Falls Creek was the world's first alpine-based organisation to be benchmarked by Green Globe, the international certification program for ecologically and socially sustainable tourism. The resort will continue to introduce environmentally responsible initiatives and activities.

"This initiative at Falls Creek combined with the partnership between the Hotham Alpine Resort Management Board, the Victorian Government and AAE's Mount Hotham Skiing Company for the Recycled Water Project at Mount Hotham demonstrates our commitment to the environmental sustainability of our important Alpine Resorts," concluded Schryver.
