US Airlines are poised to start offering new in-flight services that include roomier seats, better meal options and enhanced entertainment.

The upgrades are aimed at premium customers sometimes used to flying business class.

American Airlines is among those planning to launch some new services this summer.

"American's next-generation business class features new lie-flat seats, a personal in-flight entertainment system, and state-of-the-art cabin lighting," the airline said in a statement. Ergonomically designed overhead bins would be another amenity.

United Airlines has announced an investment of $165 million to upgrade international, long-haul first and business class seats.

Most of the upgraded services will involve international flights.
