I suppose most here are seasoned travelers, but I like to throw some caution to the wind. I recently used priceline for a trip where I was flexible on times and cost was more of a concern.
1) on the search flight page they show total cost, whereas when you bid you are bidding on just the ticket cost, taxes and fees are added later. I ended up paying more than priceline's own 'searched' lowest fare flight and got worse times!
2) They really get you on rental cars. After my bid on the flight was accepted I went to add a car. After I entered my first bid, they suggested it was low and a more reasonable cost would be $39 -$41/day, totaling over $400 (after taxes etc) for 8 days. Their own low fare search for cars gave a total price of $248!!!! Luckily I didn't make that mistake.
3) I see nowhere to contact them, the 1-800 number listed for customer service gives a recording and navigating for more help gets you back to the beginning of the navigation menu. I see no e-mail address on the site.
