Crown Princess is named in Brooklyn Under sunny skies with the Manhattan skyline as a backdrop, Crown Princess was christened today by home and lifestyle expert Martha Stewart. Singer Katharine McPhee performed at the ceremony.
The naming took place at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, with the Statue of Liberty, Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge in clear view.
Over the last several days, the ship has played host to thousands of travel agents, media and guests. One special guest was 13-year-old Katharine Close, the recent winner of the 2006 Scripps National Spelling Bee Tournament and the first female winner in seven years.
Close participated in the first Princess Cruises’ ‘Bee At Sea,’ a spelling bee tournament that is making its debut on Crown Princess. She won the bee in a group that included Crown Princess Capt. Andrew Proctor, ship’s officers and the ‘Love Boat’s’ Gavin MacLeod.
Crown Princess sails today on its first Caribbean cruise, with calls at Grand Turk, Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman and Port Canaveral. |
