Breaking news-Passenger missing from Voyager of the Seas A female passenger has been reported missing from Voyager of the Seas, currently cruising in the Mediterranean.
In an official statement Royal Caribbean International says it is working in coordination with US and Italian authorities to determine the whereabouts of a 22-year-old female guest, from the US, who was sailing onboard Voyager of the Seas.
The woman was last seen at approximately 12:30am Tuesday July 25, when she joined her parents to sleep in their stateroom says the statement. At that time, the ship was sailing from Civitavecchia (Rome), to Naples.
The woman was reported missing by her sister at approximately 7:30am Tuesday shortly after the vessel berthed at Naples cruise terminal. A variety of onboard announcements and searches were immediately carried out, without success.
Royal Caribbean notified the US and Italian Coast Guards, the FBI, the US Consulate in Naples and the Naples police. The Naples police conducted an investigation and the Italian Coast Guard is conducting air and sea searches. ‘A number of search boats and aircraft have been used by the authorities in the past couple of days’, Michael Sheehan director, corporate communications Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd told Seatrade Insider. There have been no sightings reported.
Royal Caribbean says it is fully supporting the investigation in numerous ways, including the collection of onboard records, videotapes and statements, and preserving staterooms for investigators. A senior Royal Caribbean executive and a company Guest Care Team joined the ship to further assist the woman’s family. ’Our thoughts and prayers are with this woman and her family,’ said RCI president, Adam Goldstein.
