Default What do you think?

In the past 24 hours, we have learned of another excursion that has ended in tragedy.

What can we, as tourists, learn from this?

What can be done to prevent accidents like this?

What extra safeguards could be put in place by the excursion owners/organisers?

What are your feelings and opinions?

This is a discussion about GENERAL excursion safety and not the one involved in the accident specifically, so please try not to flame anyone or throw blame at anyone/anything.

This tragedy highlights another aspect of tourism, that of corporate excursions. Its now known that a construction company organised to have some of their workforce on the boat for a party/evening meal cruise.

What experience has anyone here had of such excursions?

Has anyone planned one of these trips, either as a group of friends or as a corporate day/evening get together?

Do you go by recommendation when you book them?

I have only used ship excursion once...and no problems on it...but.....my parents were on a ship's excursion when in the Baltics ...and they were left behind in St.Petersburg Russia.

The bus left early...and the person in charge had counted heads....but what she didnt realise was....she had two strangers on the bus

My parents were bit upset by it all....but luckily they had the sense to talk to another bus driver who radioed to their bus and they were able to catch up with it later....oh and guess what.....the two strangers had disappeared
