Last November arriving in Casablanca on our transatlantic cruise, taxi drivers were asking two hundred GB pounds, or three hundred euros. Naturally I refused, and walked away, one taxi driver followed me, asked me to name my price, twenty euros I said, he shook his head, my next offer was thirty euros, thirty-five came the reply. I won.
Haggling especially in Morocco is you are using their own currency the Dirham, start at a very low figure, and increase it gradually, the seller may be seen to lose their temper slightly, you are the gradually gaining the upper hand. When like me they offer you a figure similar to your last offer you have usually won. Remember they are trying to earn a living, but possibly you will never know the true value of what you are purchasing in that country.
I love Morocco, haggling is a part of the culture, narurally if you are not careful you will be ripped off, so just be careful.
