Discovery World hails Libya news
16/5/2006
Yesterday U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice announced the resumption of full diplomatic relations with Libya, which is expected to put an end to the uncertainty regarding U.S. citizens being able to go ashore in Libyan ports.
‘It’s fantastic news; it opens up travel to incredible world heritage sites and the ruins of one of the most beautiful cities of the Roman empire, Leptis Magna,’ said Mark Flager, vp sales, marketing and passenger services for Discovery World.
As soon as Discovery World got the news on Monday, the company began calling travel agents whose clients had canceled Libya sailings because of the visa issue, as well as group producers who had backed off, Flager told Seatrade Insider.
The 650-passenger Discovery will call at Benghazi, Al Khums and Tripoli in November on a 16-night cruise and will return to Libya on two voyages in 2007.
